چکیده

We present for the #rst time an analytical approach for determining the time of #ring of nonlinear stochastic neuronal models. The theory of Markov processes is applied to the Fitzhugh–Nagumo system with a constant mean, Gaussian white noise input, representing stochastic excitation and inhibition. An equation obtained for the mean of the time to #rst spike is solved by means of an accurate one-dimensional approximation. Veri#cation of the method is obtained through the excellent agreement between the moments of the #ring time found by numerical solution of di6erential equations and those obtained by simulation of the solutions of the model stochastic di6erential equations. We also #nd a maximum at small noise values which constitutes a form of stochastic resonance. c © 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

Determination of Firing Times for the Stochastic Fitzhugh-Nagumo Neuronal Model

We present for the first time an analytical approach for determining the time of firing of multicomponent nonlinear stochastic neuronal models. We apply the theory of first exit times for Markov processes to the Fitzhugh-Nagumo system with a constant mean gaussian white noise input, representing stochastic excitation and inhibition. Partial differential equations are obtained for the moments of...

Removal of Methylene Blue, Malachite Green and Rhodamine B in a Ternary System by Pistachio Hull; Application of Wavelet Neural Network Modeling and Doehlert Design

Most of previous papers in the field of dye removal used one dye or dyes with nearly separate spectra that simplifies dyes concentration determination by Beer's law at different λmax. In many real situations, dyes with highly overlapped spectra exist and their concentrations can be determined by multivariate analysis methods. In this study, principal component-wavelet neural network (PC-WNN) wa...

Simulation and Prediction of Wind Speeds: A Neural Network for Weibull

Abstract. Wind as a resource of renewable energy has obtained an important share of the energy market already. Therefore simulation and prediction of wind speeds is essential for both, for engineers and energy traders. In this paper we analyze the surface wind speed data from three prototypic locations: coastal region (Rotterdam), undulating forest landscape few 100 m above sea level(Kassel), ...

First-passage times in integrate-and-fire neurons with stochastic thresholds.

We consider a leaky integrate-and-fire neuron with deterministic subthreshold dynamics and a firing threshold that evolves as an Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process. The formulation of this minimal model is motivated by the experimentally observed widespread variation of neural firing thresholds. We show numerically that the mean first-passage time can depend nonmonotonically on the noise amplitude. For...

Information transmission with spiking Bayesian neurons

Spike trains of cortical neurons resulting from repeated presentations of a stimulus are variable and exhibit Poisson-like statistics. Many models of neural coding therefore assumed that sensory information is contained in instantaneous firing rates, not spike times. Here, we ask how much information about time-varying stimuli can be transmitted by spiking neurons with such input and output var...
